About the Parzival Academy

Trust in Yourself & Your Place in the World

Parzival Academy was founded upon the idea that too many people move into the world feeling a lack of trust in themselves or their place in the world.

There’s a deep longing among young adults to know who they are and how they can contribute in the world, but few high school, college or other educational programs offer much support in meeting this longing.

Parzival’s gap year program is not about simply “doing” something during a break from schooling. Our program is about “becoming” who you’re truly meant to be so you can confidently step into the world aligned with who you are and what you’re here to offer the world.

We began as Markao Business Academy, and shifted to Parzival Academy to have a stronger focus on the socio-entrepreneurial spirit and the journey to truly know oneself and their place in the world, which we believe are critical needs in the world today.

As we see it, socio-entrepreneurialism is not about becoming an entrepreneur for the benefit of one’s community, though that’s certainly an option.

Socio-entrepreneurialism at Parzival Academy is about cultivating:

  • Leadership skills
  • Personal and Social Awareness
  • Well-being
  • Environmental Awareness
  • Creativity
  • Innovative thinking

We believe all of these qualities are required to contribute to the world through one’s vocation and relationships in the most effective way possible, while staying true to yourself.

We founded Parzival Academy to create a different option for young adults moving into the world, and we’ll continue to evolve to meet the needs of the future.

Kim’s passion for transformational learning and development is expressed through a unique blend of archetypal wisdom, character strengths, and habit breaking programs that empower individuals to break the chains of old patterns and conditioning, and become not only their best Selves, but also effective Leaders. Raluca Kannan

Raluca is a Newfield trained ontological life and leadership coach. She creates learning experiences that bring one closer to who they truly are.

She worked in alternative educational programs where she supported young adults to embrace the world with curiosity, trust and build meaningful relationships. The concepts of self-directed learning and creating a team culture, learned in the educational environments, influenced her approach in the corporate sector where as a coach she focuses on bringing joy and freedom at work.

Her background in different corporate settings (from start ups to big corporations) gave her the opportunity to reflect on how we generate results together with others while taking care of what motivates us.

She deeply believes that the search for purpose and joy is a lifelong quest that drives us in every aspect of our life.

She is passionate about human development and connecting to our inner wisdom to overcome our fears and find hope.

As a mother and a coach, she is also supporting women to balance motherhood with other roles in their lives, and move away from shame and guilt to live in congruence with their own values and beliefs.

Meet Our Contributors

Liesel Teversham sm

Liesel Teversham

Parzival Academy has loved working with Liesel Teversham to support our students in finding and understanding their unique strengths.

Liesel Teversham supports sensitive souls to build quiet confidence, helping them to work through the blocks and fears that stop them, so they can embrace their true, authentic strengths and believe in their value.

In her previous careers as a musician, and then as a computer programmer, Liesel saw how quiet people can be unfairly overlooked. While working in the stressful IT industry in 2005, she stumbled upon her true calling by accident when her (now) husband mentioned a strange therapy, created by a Stanford Engineer, to reduce anxiety and fear. She loved the weird and wonderful EFT tapping method so much that she went on to become a practitioner and later trainer in South Africa.

In 2017 she moved from South Africa to the UK with her husband, where she works with introverts all around the world. She’s the author of 2 books (No Problem. The Upside of Saying No, and Coping with a Dying Pet), and has hosted 2 podcasts (Mindful Career Transitions, and Grow Yourself to Grow your Business).

She also writes the monthly newsletter for the EFT International organization, a Charity that upholds EFT standards globally.

Two of her favorite tools are EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), and CliftonStrengths. Used together, they provide a solid foundation for any introvert who wants to make a difference in the world in their unique, quiet way.

“ Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
